Co-Founder, Travis Townsend, Jr., Esq., recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a 2017 40 Under 40 for business achievements within the Metro Atlanta Area.
“The 40 Under 40 Awards honor young movers and shakers who are making a mark in their industries and leading in their communities.
Honoree Travis Townsend, founding partner of Townsend Lockett law firm, said his advice to new leaders would be to toss the books like “Good to Great” and stream the Russell Crowe movie “Gladiator” instead. And ignore the bad guy, he said.
“Watch the guy that’s coming up, the guy with the muscles and the sword. He’s a slave,” Townsend said. “But he’s serving amongst the people. He’s fighting for justice. He’s inspiring those at the bottom to come up and achieve their potential.
“Take note of those lessons. He goes in there, when he has his opportunity to shine, he waits for his moment and he lets his fellow men shine,” Townsend continued. “And always remember, it’s about the ecosystem, the best interests of the institution, the city, the people of Rome. The people of Rome are your company. That’s your Rome. And always remember if you don’t go out there and you don’t lead that way, there will always be a group of people around you — your cohorts, your direct reports, your supervisors — they will be waiting for the next best up-and-comer to drag you out in front of the arena and stab you, to cheers.”
